Santorini
Santorini with its majestic caldera views, leftover from the eruption of the volcano some thousand years ago, is one of the most popular Cycladic islands. And with good reason. Walk from Fira to Oia and see the world-famous white churches, with their blue rooftops. Stroll along the boardwalks of Kamari and Perissa beach, visit the old town, take a day cruise and visit the volcano; for an island of only 15.000, Santorini has plenty to offer.
Naxos
The biggest of the Cycladic islands is Naxos, once home to Zeus, leader of the Gods, in hiding from his father. Nowadays Naxos is known for its great choice of long, sandy beaches, traditional Greek villages with tavernas, numerous hiking routes, and archaeological sites. Naxos is a family friendly place, as it encompasses everything you want from a Greek island, with plenty of activities to choose from.
Amorgos
At the very east of the Cyclades, we find the impressive, untouched nature of Amorgos. From the 600m high cliffs to the spectacular Monastery of Chozoviotissa, Amorgos is the ideal Greek island for lovers of hiking and nature. Via the rocky and cobbled footpaths (kalderimia), you will get to see mountains and sea, remote villages and rural countryside.
Sifnos
Sifnos, the island famous for its pottery and ancient silver and gold mines, is a paradise of many flavours. The birthplace of famous 20th-century chef Tselementes, Sifnos has some of the best food in the country. After one of 19 official hikes among the islands’ raw nature, with the smell of fresh, wild herbs and flowers around you, sit down at one of the many taverna’s serving local classics like chickpea balls, honey pie, and lamb stew.
Serifos
Serifos is one of the Cyclades’ hidden gems, not yet discovered by the masses. The rocky landscape and plenty of beaches still offer secluded spots, so the beauty of the island can be enjoyed to the fullest. Activities to do on the island include but are not limited to hiking, mountain biking, and visiting the charming villages with their authentic white-washed houses.
